valley-of-death.jpg City Journal is a new found favorite for me. Yet another excellent article looks at the downfall of the humanities in academia. It takes a look at PC as a major culprit in damaging the image, quality, and purpose of the studies in the field. Perhaps I stretch it a little but I’m not trying to be or represent myself as the smartest person with a computer.

In an earlier era, the humanities were devoted to studying the highest achievements of Western civilization. EdBO note: I used the Ask thing WordPress offers. It picked Amiri Baraka. the highlight therof isn’t entirely mine.

Good point. It’s sad that we’ve left Greek, Latin, and the like while we go to Womyn’s Studies and other nonsense. In fact, my alma mater requires its liberal arts students to take non-Western civ courses but not western civ courses. (That’s why I was an engineer and therefore, I got to take all the Western Civ I wanted.)

FYI: your link is not working, or my computer is cranky.
