Some PINGING amongst friends….

From a post I saw at QueenofSwords with back up here. The story is this 11 y/o whacks super hog. Click either link and catch a glimpse of this thing. I was blown away at the thought that this thing was out and about. Talk about meeting something in a dark alley…

Deeper reading made me think a couple of thoughts though.

“With the pig finally dead in a creek bed on the 2,500-acre Lost Creek Plantation, a commercial hunting preserve in Delta, trees had to be cut down and a backhoe brought in to bring Jamison’s prize out of the woods.” bold mine from here.

Was this a “canned” hunt ? Go to their site and decide yourself. I’m not against hunting. I just think “We With Thumbs” should give the animal a sporting chance. Hunting is hunting. Canned hunts are just killing and not the same thing.

The recent fighting in Lebanon has raised many concerns and discussions. The Lebanese army in the hunt for bank robbing Islamists with ? links to Al Qaeda attack their hideout. Problem is they are using a refugee area full of Palestinians to hideout in. Anyway one quickly blurted bite that caught my ears was about the Palestinians not being able to better the area construction wise. So slums you can’t better is easily fodder for radicalization of the residents therein. No ? Well it’s wrong not to allow refugees to integrate and be active in the place of their refuge. A little common sense a little assimilation equals a better situation. Where’s the PING ? This is maybe only related in my head. WomanHonorThyself had a great post about the negative transformation of a site in Gaza. Check it out. I’d ask you to keep in mind that the place had great potential and it was ruined. To whose benefit ?

VelvetHammer had a great post regarding the absolute crazy onslaught Iran is unleashing on it’s citizens. I had a post cooking on the subject but I’m yielding, pinging and feeling right about it. The Iranian government and with that I mean radical Islamic nuts are arresting women and young people due to their appearances. A great series of moving images can be found here.

Viewing VH’s post and exploring the site the images are at I was awash with a history moment. These quirky things that trigger historical memories. Check out the post and pics and tell me you don’t see the Nazis of Germany and the whole Swing-Kid thing.

MVDG is a great blog. I stopped by enjoyed and entered into a comment bit over this post. The commentary was not going anyplace. A later commentor chimed in with some good points. Bottom line In2thefray here and now officially endorses Sen J. Biden for the Democrat Presidential nomination . He is the only dem not afraid of debating on Fox. I safely assume he is the only donkey that has any chance facing Bin Laden, House of Saud and any domestic toughies without wetting himself.

And lastly I ping to me. The BBC as I’ve said before is a useful media source. I was driven to post about some BBC bias over a radio news broadcast but let it go. Then the web news site sent me over the edge. Seeing this as a sign that I should get it off my chest I turned to the keyboard and offer this..

The first story that pissed me off was this one. Its title was what got me especially since upon reading the story one concludes people were captive and were freed. The second one is a little more complicated. The story looks at a university in Baghdad and the troubles it experiences secondary to being surrounded by civil war. The article could easily celebrate the persistence of the students and faculty but insists on painting the bleakest imagery. This article was found after finding and posting this DaybyDay cartoon. It captures the spirit I think is the dual reality of the press and the full reality. Also check this vid.

This concludes my longest post. I hope readers have the where with all to check it out fully. I’d also like to thank all the ping-ees. What will I do the rest of the week now ?
